在全球化的時代，人們在特定情境中能夠使用多種語言。作為雙語者，人們經常將不同語言的詞彙和片語融入其母語之中。在言語中混合使用兩種或更多種語言的做法被稱為語碼混用。年輕人和社區領袖在他們的交流中經常使用語碼混用。例如，“kids zaman now”（意思是“現代的孩子們”）在印尼廣受歡迎並迅速傳播，因為該國的年輕人將不同語言組合起來，以表達更加引人驚嘆的意思。此外，這種語言組合現象在人們日常互動中也經常出現。
這項研究旨在調查南雅加達的年輕人對日常對話中使用的語碼混用所持有的看法。這項研究的目的是找出印尼人日常對話中語碼混用的類型和因素。本研究採用了定性和量化相結合的研究方法，以分析數據並調查感知和使用情況。採用了描述性定性分析來解釋英語在印尼的日常對話中的使用方式。量化研究則被用來分析來自有關參與者對日常對話中語碼混用看法的問卷裡所收集到的數據。
參與者為印尼南雅加達的年輕人。之所以選擇這些受試者，是因為南雅加達以語碼混用現象而聞名。許多生活在南雅加達的年輕人在溝通時習慣將英語和印尼語混合使用。本研究採用了隨機抽樣技術來確定參與者，共識別了62名印尼年輕人作為研究對象。數據收集技術包括問卷和訪談。研究結果顯示，印尼年輕人在這項研究中使用了三種語碼混用類型：插入、交替和詞匯等同。參與者們的背景、他們對兩種語言的流利程度以及他們的習慣都會影響南雅加達的年輕人使用語碼混用的頻率。他們的看法是，在日常對話中應用語碼混用是能產生預期效果的。

ABSTRACT
In this era of globalization, people can speak more than one language in particular contexts. Being bilingual, people frequently incorporate words and phrases from different languages into their native tongue. The practice of mingling two or more languages in speech is known as code mixing. Young people and community leaders frequently use code mixing in their discourse. For instance, "kids zaman now," which means “kids in the now generation,” is popular and spreading like wildfire in Indonesia because young people in that country combine their languages to articulate something more spectacular. Additionally, this phenomenon of combining language occurs in actual interactions that people have every day.
This study aims to investigate the perceptions that young people in South Jakarta have of the code mixing used in daily conversation. The purpose of this research is to find the types and the factors of code mixing in Indonesians’ daily conversation. This study uses mixed qualitative and quantitative research methods in analyzing the data to investigate both perception and usage. A descriptive qualitative analysis was used to explain how English is used in regular conversation in Indonesia. Quantitative research was used to analyse the data collected from a questionaire about participants’ perceptions about code mixing in daily conversation.
The participants are young people in South Jakarta, Indonesia. The reason these subjects were chosen is because South Jakarta is known for the phenomenon of code mixing. Many young people who live in South Jakarta are accustomed to mixing English and Indonesian when communicating. A random sampling technique was adopted to determine the participants, which identified 62 Indonesian young people as subjects. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. The study's findings indicate that three types of code mixing are utilized by Indonesian youth in this research: insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. The participants' backgrounds, their fluency in two languages, and their habits all have an impact on how often young people in South Jakarta utilize code mixing. Their perception is that using code mixing is effective when applied to daily conversations.
