Tapaktuan South Aceh, the second-largest nutmeg supplier for Indonesia nutmeg, has been striving to increase its nutmeg production due to pests and disease infections. Agriculture and Forest Office of South Aceh and Forum Pala Aceh (Forpala) intervention through several programs have been conducted to overcome the problem and help farmers enhance their production, increase the economic growth and bring back the glory of South Aceh nutmeg. The research aims to investigate the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs, as well as explore the way of program improvement. The qualitative method was grounded through semi-structured interviews and secondary data including publications, journals, and news. The research used Five-E Approach to analyze the data from nutmeg farmers, local government, and Forpala. The findings indicate that the programs could motivate and gain back the spirit of nutmeg farmers in cultivating nutmeg crop. But It does not show significant increase in production and economic growth. However, the programs have benefited and fulfilled some farmers’ needs. even though, there are some needs are not been addressed yet. It is also found that there is a lack of funds that affects the sustainability of the program and uneven distribution. The local government and Forpala should focus on long-term solutions rather than short-term benefits such as empowering nutmeg farmers, providing better facilities, strengthening nutmeg farmer groups, and extension workers in every village.
