隨著各領域日益漸增的眼動儀研究應用，字幕翻譯也是其一。儘管文獻已經廣泛探討過眼動儀可有效記錄讀者在閱讀字幕時的眼動軌跡，但是對於閱讀詩歌翻譯字幕的研究卻相當缺乏。本實驗以電影《璀璨情詩》中英國詩人濟慈的詩作為翻譯實作的題目，由學生譯成中文，再提供給受試者作為眼動測試，所有受試者須閱讀影片中詩歌的字幕翻譯，並由眼動儀記錄其眼動軌跡。影片觀看後，針對受試者所觀看的字幕提供其字幕翻譯供其畫線標記，實驗過後，依據眼動記錄的測試結果，設計訪談問題與讀者進行訪談，以瞭解讀者之字幕閱讀經驗與困難處並釐清凝視與回視是否讓讀者在閱讀過程中付出較多的心力。

本研究主要探討研究問題如下：一為讀者在閱讀詩歌翻譯字幕過程中，翻譯字幕中何處會讓讀者付出心力、二為眼動儀資料是否可以作為學生譯者修改譯文之依據並且提升譯文的翻譯品質。研究結果指出，凝視或回視較多之處大多可視為讀者的閱讀理解困難處，但須配合眼動記錄及訪談結果分析比對，也有例外之處；而譯者依據眼動結果所修改的譯文，也與讀者訪談結果及畫線標記有所關聯；此外，依據專業譯者對於譯文的評分，也可得知依據眼動儀結果所修改的譯文品質的確有所提升，故眼動資料也可當作譯者未來修改譯文的依據。而學生譯者在修改譯文過程中可以得知讀者的閱讀過程，老師也可以得知學生譯者修改譯文的思路過程，所以眼動儀的運用或許將來也可融入翻譯課堂中，這些結果都對未來擴大樣本數的相關研究有很大的啟發。

While using the eye-tracker to record the eye movements of the readers during their reading process has been extensively investigated, the study focusing on poetry subtitle reading is relatively unexplored. This study aims to investigate the cognitive efforts of the readers during subtitle reading process and whether the eye-tracking data can be used as the feedback for the translators to revise their translated work. In this study, an experiment that combines translation and reception was carried out in an undergraduate literary translation course.

“Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art” by John Keats in the movie Bright Star was chosen for translation practice, and “Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art” was translated by the student translators. To monitor students’ visual attention, all participants were asked to view different subtitled versions individually, and their eye-movements were then recorded by eye-tracking devices. After viewing clips, the viewers were offered subtitled script to highlight words or sentences which they have difficulty in reading during their eye-tracking process. All the viewers were interviewed to know more about their viewing experience and reading difficulty of the subtitled version. The findings suggest that an increase in fixation or revisit behaviors to the subtitles seem to need cognitive efforts for the viewers; however, there are still some exceptions. The eye-tracking data can be used as the feedback to help the translators to revise their translated work and enhance the quality of their translation. From the version revised by the student translators based on the eye-tracking results, it can match with the parts highlighted by the participants. In addition, according to the evaluation by the professional translator, the revised version is better than the first version.

From the results, the student translators can know more about the reading process of their readers and they can revise their translated work.
