Although the model development of the project scheduling management system has almost matured and the most public-works project had professional construction management to control engineering schedule and quality, the problem of project delays has repeatedly been emerging. From this, it can be verified that delay in construction schedule can’t just be solved by system model and professional management, but it is still necessary to quickly and effectively survey the influencing factors of construction schedule. In view of this, this study is focused on the assessment of schedule management using coal transportation project of thermal power plant as an example. There are three main criterions of construction, environment, and management and a total of nine submain criterions that be calculated the impact index by using Analytic Hierarchy Process. The results showed as follows: the main criterion of schedule management for the key influence factor are respectively construction, management, and environment; the high impact factor is 32.43% for the item “mistake in construction content” of the main construction criterion, and the second impact factor is 20.43% for the item “delay in material supply”; the third impact factor is 16.49% for the item “poor cross-departmental communication” of the main management criterion. Therefore, in order to effectively manage the schedule of the coal transportation project in this case, it is recommended to prioritize management for the item " mistake in construction content" of the main construction criterion.
