Harmonic Drive has characteristics of high-speed reduction ratio,low backlash, high precision, low volume, high gear ratio, low noise, and easy assembly. Due to these characteristics, it makes Harmonic Drive in several precision machinery industries, such as such as robots, robotic arms, Aerospace, precise positioning system and so on. It is widely used and has significant market demand.
The present study has analysis and discussion by building up three-dimensional Harmonic Drive. First, build a models of each part in the drawing software. Under different gear type, structural, and transmission design, use finite element analysis software of Abaqus to analyze the stress, kinematic error, and dynamic effects of Flex Spline and Circular Spline. This study compares the results with Harmonic Drive design difference. It can be for a design reference in domestic industry.
