本論文目的為比較黛西在繁中譯本中的形象。由於外國學者的研究（Samkanashvili 2016；Tavandashti；Liangyu, et al. 2019；Pambudi, et al. 2016）顯示，黛西在原文中所呈現的形象較為負面，故研究黛西於繁中譯本的呈現是本論文之重點；本研究以比較不同繁中譯本，分析中文譯者是否也將黛西的形象以較為負面的方式呈現。研究材料為筆者挑選的十二本《大亨小傳》中譯本，包含六本西元2000年前出版的譯本及六本西元2000年後出版的譯本，而十二本中譯本之譯者，其中六名為男性（喬治高、張智瑚、鄭大行、石建華、王聖棻、董繼平）、六名為女性（黃淑慎、胡湘雲、陳娟娟、李佳純、汪芃、張思婷），以期得到較有說服力之結果。此外，譯者使用何種翻譯技巧來描述黛西，及其所產生的翻譯效果，也會在本論文中一併提及。
分析結果顯示，西元2000年前出版的譯本所呈現的黛西形象，較西元2000年後出版的譯本更為負面。除此之外，有九位譯者使用翻譯技巧，如：擴充法、重複法和省略法，因而使得黛西的形象更為負面；此外，雖然十二位譯者皆使用轉換法，但黛西的形象並未因譯者使用詞性轉換法而變得負面。期望本論文能成為未來研究的參考資料，並提供新的研究方向。

This research aims to compare the image of Daisy in the Chinese translations. Since the studies of foreign scholars (Samkanashvili 2016；Tavandashti；Liangyu, et al. 2019；Pambudi, et al. 2016) showed that Daisy was presented as a negative character in the source text, how Daisy is depicted in the Chinese translations is the research focus in this study. Hence, the purpose of this study is to compare different Chinese translations and analyze whether the Chinese translators also presented the image of Daisy in a negative way.
Twelve Chinese translations versions of The Great Gatsby, including six translations published before the year 2000 and six translations published after the year 2000, are selected for analysis. In addition, in order to get more convincing results, six of the translators are males and six of them are females. What translation techniques are used to portray Daisy’s images are observed and the translation effects are discussed.
As the findings show, the translations published before the year 2000 presented Daisy in a more negative way than the translations published after the year 2000. Not only that, nine translators used translation techniques, including amplification, repetition, and omission to depict Daisy in a more negative way. On the other hand, though the twelve translators all used conversion in their translations, Daisy’s image was not presented in a more negative way for they used conversion. It is hoped that this research could provide a reference and bring a new option for future research.
