本研究探討2008年至2016年美國、中國、日本和韓國鋼鐵出口至全球市場的出口值，在鋼品方面利用「國際商品統一分類代碼」（Harmonized System Code）中的HS72鋼鐵分類為粗鋼、平板鋼、長條鋼、不鏽鋼、合金鋼作為產品研究。研究方法使用出口市場佔有率了解國家生產力並利用顯示性比較優勢說明國家鋼鐵比較利益來探討美中日韓在全球鋼鐵市場出口的競爭地位。

研究結果發現，2008年至2016年間：
一、美國出口至全球市場有慢慢回溫的狀態，在長條鋼部分出口市場佔有率成長9%，是近年來成長速度最快的國家也成為全球數一數二的長條鋼生產國。
二、中國整體鋼鐵出口競爭力有大幅的下降至2016年中國在全球出口整體鋼鐵的佔有率下降了5%，在顯示性競爭優勢也達到了較低的比較利益，是全球鋼鐵產業下降速度最明顯的國家。
三、日本是本研究四個國家裡面較穩定的鋼鐵出口國家，在出口市佔率都維持在6%-7%在一定水準，沒有起伏太大，關於粗鋼和合金鋼鋼材顯示性比較優勢均保持在高的比較利益。
四、韓國鋼鐵整體出口到全球市場的佔有率處於4%-6%，是四個國家中較低比率的國家，但在不鏽鋼方面維持了較高的比較利益。

This study examines the export value of steel exports from the United States, China, Japan, and South Korea to the global market from 2008 to 2016. In the steel product, HS72 steel in the Harmonized System Code is classified into crude steel and flat steel. Steel, strip steel, stainless steel, alloy steel as product research. The research method uses the export market share to understand the countrys productivity and uses the revealed comparative advantage to illustrate the comparative interests of national steel to explore the competitive position of the US, China, Japan and Korea in the global steel market. The study found that between 2008 and 2016:
First, the US exports to the global market have slowly recovered, and the market share of the long strip steel export market grew by 9%. It is the fastest growing country in recent years and has become one of the worlds largest producers of long strip steel.
Second, Chinas overall steel export competitiveness has fallen sharply. In 2016, China’s share of global steel exports fell by 5%. Revealed comparative advantage also achieved a lower comparative advantage. China is the country with the most obvious decline in the global steel industry.
Third, Among the four countries in this study, Japan is a relatively stable steel exporter. The export market share remained at 6%-7%. There is no ups and downs to some extent, and the comparative advantage showing comparative advantage remains at a high level.
Fourth, the overall export of Korean steel to the global market is 4%-6%, which is the lower ratio of the four countries, but maintains a higher comparative advantage in stainless steel.
