Pipelines are like human blood vessels running through the whole building or factory area. How to reduce fire and avoid leakage during piping process is an important issue to enhance construction safety. In view of the serious damage caused by fire and explosion, the process safety management (PSM) has been highly valued and discussed in recent years. It is the characteristic of mechanical grooved pipe coupling joint piping method that no fire is used in piping process. Whether this method is suitable for industrial pipeline system, replacing the risk of electric welding ignition and avoiding leakage caused by weld corrosion is the purpose of this study. The research methods include piping method analysis, cost analysis, chemical composition applicability analysis, use case analysis and product development analysis. The application of mechanical grooved pipe coupling joint piping method in industry is analyzed. Whether the characteristics, advantages and cost of the method are enough to replace the electric welding piping method is also discussed. The research and analysis show that the mechanical grooved pipe coupling joint is obviously lower than the electric welding in terms of wage cost alone. When the wage and material cost are added, the mechanical grooved pipe coupling joint has advantages in the cost of chemical composition medium which is suitable for EPDM and Nitrile in gasket material. More than 500 chemical compositions of pipeline media can be applied. From the actual case and the development trend of manufacturer's products, it can be seen that the development of trench mechanical grooved pipe coupling in the past century has focused on water system, so that users have the impression that they can only apply to water system. Under cost considerations, mechanical grooved pipe coupling joints have more than 365 chemical components suitable for medium, and the cost is lower than that of electric welding. This cost advantage can effectively replace the electric welding, reduce and avoid the fire risk in the piping process, at the same time, avoid the harm of leakage caused by the corrosion of the welding bead, and improve the safety of the piping process and pipeline.
