Cutting tools used in machine tools are indispensable for machining performance. The basic cutting processing methods include milling, turning, drilling, etc. Processing cutter tools can improve the user's work efficiency, thereby reducing man-hours & costs and creating maximum economic benefits. Inflation leads to rising costs of raw materials, manpower, electricity, and freight. This study lists the possible failure factors in the milling cutter production process of the case company, and distinguishes the causes and effects of failure factors. By proposing improvement plans, the quality of products can be improved and the cost of internal and external failures of the enterprise, such as scrap, rework, re-inspection, etc., can be reduced. This study uses Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to investigate the case company's milling cutter production process from material issuance, tool forming, coating, packaging to shipment, and lists 30 possible failure modes. The causes and effects of each failure mode are identified and the risk priority number (RPN) is calculated. According to the results of this study, the top 5 failure modes with the highest RPN are selected for improvement. Through the quality improvement plans, the occurrence of failures can be effectively avoided or the probability of occurrence can be reduced, and the product can be improved.
