The turbulent natural convection in a two dimension rectangular enclosure with vertical divisions is investigated in this thesis by using numerical calculations.The numerical simulation model is based on the computational fluid dynamic software- PHOENICS.In the model, horizontal walls and partitions are assumed to be adiabatic while the vertical walls are maintained at constant temperatures.The numerical calculations are carried out with air as working fluid Prandtl number is 0.71, for Rayleigh numbers in the range 1.17e8to 1.167e11 and aspect ration from 1.0 to 0.5. The enlosure heat transfer is improved as the Rayleigh numbers increase. The flow pattern and Nusselt number are strongly affected by the height and the number of the partitions.The simulation results arein good agreement with the available experimental data.
