Engineering drawings play very important roles to
convey information in construction engineering.
The traditional management approach could not satisfy
the need of increasingly complicated engineering tasks.
In addition, the information technologies, such as WWW,
Object-Orientation, Database, have been improved rapidly.
The present research studies how to take advantage of
the new information technologies to solve the problems
encountered in engineering drawing management.
The major of the tasks performed in the present research
are as follows: (1) Study problems in engineering drawing management,
(2) Evaluation of the information technologies, such as WWW, Object
Orientation, and Database, to Engineering Drawing Management, and
(3) Analysis, design, and implementation of an Engineering Drawing
Management System, called EDMS. Besides, the problems encountered in
the development process of EDMS are discussed.
