社會結構的變轉使得女性的勞動參與率較以往提升，在兩性同樣受到市場工作牽制的情況下，其在時間的配置上是否會有所差異。以往對此類問題的研究，並未考慮不同的工時安排對兩性時間運用的影響，且多集中在勞動市場供給行為的模型驗証上。別於以往的研究，本文依工時的多寡將工作型態予以分類之後，以敘述統計的方式，對兩性不同工作型態者的時間運用做一比較，並利用最小平方法估計影響兩性各項時間運用的因素。
利用主計處1990年與1994年的「時間運用調查」，進行實証分析後發現，有市場工時的女性仍負擔了大量的家務時間。且整體而言，由於女性額外的家務工作，使其在自由時間的運用上也較為緊縮，特別是擁有較高市場工時者。此外兩性不同工時安排者其人口、家庭特質也有所差異。其中在非勞動力的群體中，女性以低學歷的主婦居多，而男性則多為學生及老人。失業者的女性以年輕未婚者居多，男性則分佈於各年齡層且以已婚有配偶者居多。整體而言，兩性正常工時者的教育程度較高、超工時者次之、而部份工時者普遍偏低。在兩性職域特質方面，以從事於商業者傾向於有較高的工作時間，而從事於金融、工商服務業者的工作時間較少。在從業身份方面，以往的研究認為，女性會因為時間彈性運用的考量，而選擇成為自營作業者，但可能由於家務工作與市場工作沒有清楚的劃份，使自營作業者在自由時間的運用較為緊縮。在影響兩性各項時間的運用方面，發現女性的各項時間皆受到婚姻狀況及教育程度的影響，而男性的必要、通勤及工作時間會受到教育程度的影響，家事育兒及自由時間則會受到婚姻狀況的影響。

Women’s labor participation rate has been accelerating result from the change of society construction. In the past, similar researches had not concerned about the influence of gender on different working-hours arrangement but focused on estimation of the econometric model. However, this study had assorted employment state by working-hours and compare time allocation of different working-hour arrangement. Furthermore, it applies OLS to estimate every elements of time allocation.
By applying “Time use data” in 1990 and 1994 from Directorate-General of Budget Accounting and Statistic, women with working-hours burden most house chores. Generally speaking, because of extra housework, women, especially for those who owns higher working-hours, is limited on free time allocation. Besides, two genders of different working-hour allocation also appear the diversity on family amount and characteristic. Among the group of non-labor force, low-educated house wives are in the majority of female while students and the old are of man. For unemployed people, most female are young and unmarried in contrast with male are distributed on all ages and most of them are married. Overall, from education level, full-time workers of both genders are well educated, Over-time workers second, and Part-time workers third. On domain attribute of two genders, trade workers tend to work in longer hours when comparing with workers in finance, insurance, real estate, and business services. On class of workers, past researches believe that women become self-employment owning to need the flexibility of time allocation. However, self-employment is still limited on time allocation because there is no clear dividing line between house chores and working-hour. On time-allocation effects of two genders, women are affected by marital status and education level. As for men, men’s hours of fundamental, communication, and working are affected by education level; their hours of housework, kids rising, and free, by marital status.
