自1968年以來，人民的教育水準已不斷的提升。在教育程度提升的同時，不僅高等教育之勞動供給相對增加，而且因應經濟自由化、國際化與產業結構改變的步伐加快的趨勢下，可以預期的是，其對高等教育水準之勞動者需求亦會相對增加，因此，在供給與需求同時增加的情況下，對於個人工資所得的影響程度以致於對個人工資所得的分配狀況之影響，則不得而知。故本文嘗試對不同教育水準工資差異的問題做一深入的研究，以瞭解不同教育水準間在工資所得的決定上，是否有所不同，以及哪些因素為影響個人工資所得分配變動的原因。
本文運用1993年、1996年、1999年與2001年共四年，行政院主計處之『人力運用調查資料』作為資料的來源。並以Galor ＆ Zeira（1993）的理論模型為基礎，做為個人進行教育選擇之依據。在實證模型的設定上，則利用Willis ＆ Rosen（1979）之方法與Heckman（1976，1979）之兩階段方法進行估計，藉以瞭解不同教育水準中工資所得的決定。接著，使用估計後的結果，並利用Bourguignon et al.（2001）之分解原則，以分離出造成工資所得差異的價格效果、參與效果與人口效果，以瞭解各效果對工資所得差異變動的貢獻程度。
我們將實證結果分為三個部分。首先，就家庭屬性對於個人教育決策的影響而言，實證結果發現當父母教育水準愈高、職位之專業性愈高與父母在公部門工作者，則子女接受高等教育的機率也愈高。至於不同教育程度間之工資差異對個人教育決策的影響，可發現當高級中等教育相對於高等教育之工資比愈高，則個人選擇接受高等教育的意願越低，此亦說明個人會以現實環境作為是否接受高等教育決策的考量依據。
其次，由各因素對不同教育程度工資所得的影響可發現，男性相對於女性、工作經驗愈高與白領階級相對於藍領階級者可獲得較高的工資，其中在各個教育水準中性別的工資差異正逐漸縮小中，而經驗的多寡對高等教育者的工資影響程度則有逐漸增強的趨勢。至於經驗平方與部門別則呈現顯著且負向之影響，此表示經驗愈多雖然促使工資上升，但是其效果將逐漸縮小以及公部門的工資都相對高於私部門的工資，其中部門別對高級中等教育者的工資差異有逐漸增強的趨勢。
綜合上述，可知台灣個人工資所得不均度在1993年至2001年間變動的原因，是由勞動報酬、教育投資選擇與勞動屬性三種效果所支配。就增加工資所得不均度方面，主要係教育決策改變，高等教育擴張促使工資所得不均度擴大。就縮小工資所得不均度方面，主要來自於三方面：（1）勞動報酬率變化，亦即性別間工資差異縮小為主要因素；（2）人口結構改變，主要來自於私部門與服務業相對其他行業的差異縮小與工作人口增加所造成；以及（3）無法被觀察到的工資所得的變異程度下降。
