In recent years, the advancement of Non-destructive Testing (NDT) technology is incomparably important for the infrastructure structure in its quality control during construction period and in its safety evaluation for long-term use. With many year’s efforts, development of the NDT techniques reaches considerable achievement in Europe and America. Among them, the Impulse Response method is a technology that is often used to evaluate the integrity of piles. However, most the traditional NDT equipments are base on command prompt user inter face and are most use friendly.
The objective of this thesis is to develop an Impulse Response NDT system which uses existing impact hammer as the impact source, accelerometer as the receiver, and uses an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter to convert the analog signal into digital form. The software utilizes a graphic at user interface thus making data retrieval, data analysis and data presentation in a single step.
Based on the experience learned form this research, it can be concluded that: in comparison to the traditional programming language, using the LabVIEW platform can save development time and money. In addition, the resulting interface is much more user friendly, than tradition at NDT equipment.
