本研究目的與問題在瞭解一位未婚女性在其愛情關係何種衝突議題反覆引發關係不協調，及其自我狀態與進行自我協調的歷程及自我協調後對其愛情關係之影響。研究者採用質性研究方法中的個案研究設計，參考紮根理論分析資料的步驟作為分析資料的方法。
本研究主要發現有：(1)受訪者與男友反覆衝突議題，分別為性關係、照顧者與被照顧者的互動模式、消費與理財。受訪者在性關係中，避免衝突抑制自我需要，採妥協與順從對方；照顧者與被照顧者模式：自我犧牲，照顧男友需要；在消費與理財的衝突中：在乎經濟獨立自主，不願為男友損失金錢，但實際互動未遵守。(2)受訪者自我協調主要方式為透過心理諮商協助，而發展一組複雜協調能力：「認識自我」、「認識人我關係」、以及執行「人我關係協調」。(3)自我協調後對其愛情影響，包括減少負向情緒、對關係滿意與珍惜男友，並形成「不結婚、不同居，只作男女朋友」的互動方式。本研究主要結論心理諮商是影響受訪者衝突議題上自我協調的關鍵因素。心理諮商使受訪者認識自我與增加覺察，並使「女性自我」、協調「人我關係」能力得以發展。最後研究者根據本研究結果進行討論，並對諮商研究、諮商實務提出建議。

The purpose of the current research is to examine repeated occurring conflicts between a woman and her boyfriend, the perception of her own situation, the process of her self-coordination, and the influence on her relationship after her self-coordination. The research adopts the case study method. A qualitative approach using reference to Grounded Theory was adapted to analyze the data. Three findings are made in the research. Firstly, the repeatedly occurring conflicts are the sexual relation, pattern of care taking, and financial issues. In her sexual relation, the subject suppresses her own needs and submits to her boyfriend to avoid conflicts. In the pattern of care taking, the subject constantly takes a giver role to the boyfriend’s needs. In terms of financial issues, the subject expects to be economically independent and not contribute her money to the relationship, but fails to do so in reality. Secondly, the subject turns to psychological counseling to ease the aforementioned conflicts and to achieve self coordination. A multifold ability of coordination is thus developed, including self-recognition, self-other relation, and operating in self-other relation. Thirdly, the influence on her relationship after self-coordination manifests through decrease in negative emotion, satisfaction with the relationship and the boyfriend, and the established dating pattern of “living apart together”? ‘being together but living apart’. The research concludes that psychological counseling plays a key role in self-coordinating conflicts, which helps the subject recognize herself, increase her self-awareness, and develop her feminine self and the ability to coordinate self-other relation. Last but not least, discussions on the study and suggestions for counseling research and practice are proposed.
