　　本研究主要目的在探討東吳大學圖書館使用者使用線上目錄主題檢索的情況，包括分析使用者在主題檢索上索書號與標題的使用情形和原因、所使用的主題檢索詞彙，其成功率如何？換言之，即目前系統中所使用的詞彙（主題標目）和使用者輸入的檢索詞彙之間的關係為何？並探討使用者的檢索問題與檢索詞彙之間的關係及其對檢索結果的影響，和瞭解檢索背景對檢索結果的影響及影響檢索結果的因素。期盼藉此檢視主題編目工作，同時進一步對系統與圖書館提出相關改進之建議，以期滿足使用者之需求。本研究是以東吳大學圖書館的線上目錄使用者為研究對象進行調，研究採問卷、訪談、觀察法三種方式，並收集七十九位使用者為樣本。研究結果歸納如下：
一、有84.87%檢索者使用過標題，其中36.76%檢索者認為標題查詢方便、清楚且容易檢出相關資料，所以經常使用它。
二、有16.76%檢索者使用過索書號，其中僅有2.16%檢索者認為索書號有相關性，所以經常使用；其餘則是表示索書號不易記也不好用。
三、檢索問題與檢索詞彙間的關係模式以直接轉換模式為最多52.54%），其次是詞彙超越模式（37.29%），同時發現檢索者對檢索主題的熟悉程度對於使用何種檢索問題詞彙模式並未有差異，但檢索問題詞彙模式的不同對檢索筆數有差異。
四、影響檢索筆數的因素為檢索者對檢索主題的熟悉程度；影響判斷相關筆數之因素為檢索者所需要的資料筆數；而影響精確率的因素為檢索目。
五、主題檢索詞彙能完全符合主題標目者為54.64%，未能完全符合者為45.36%。在符合中文標題款目的詞彙當中，有73%有檢出相關資料，27%未能檢出相關資料，其原因主要在於「檢出資料未能符合檢索者需求」。
　根據研究結果提出以下建議：
　一、將檢索項「標題」用語置換成「主題」一詞
　二、索引檔設計的改善
　三、索書號檢索項之檢索方式的改進
　四、增加檢索功能
　五、改善線上標題表之呈現方式
　六、強化館藏的深廣度
　七、加強圖書館利用指導

　　This main purpose of this study is to explore the users in Soochow University library how to use online public access catalogue (OPAC). The processes include the analyses in the situations and reasons of subject heading search and library call number search, the vocabularies and availabilities. In other words, this study discusses the differences of subject vocabularies between library system and users, the relationship between search problems and vocabularies as well as the influences to search results the user search background has brought in order to realize users how to choose vocabularies and the factors which affect search results. In expectation to inspect the subject cataloging work and further propose related suggestions to library and her own online public access catalogue system so that it can satisfy the need of users. This study based on the users who made use of Soochow University library OPAC adopts questionnaire, interview, observation and then gather seventy-nine users’ search behaviors as samples. The conclusions follows as below：
(1)There are 36.76% often use subject heading search among 84.87% searchers who have ever used subject heading because they consider it as convenient, clear and easy to find necessary materials.
(2)There are only 2.16% often use library call number search among 16.76% searchers who have ever used call number because they find it to be of relativity; the rest think it hard to memorize or use.
(3)The majority of the relationship model between the search issues and vocabularies is The Straight-Forward Model (52.54%), The Abundant Terms Model (37.29%) is second ; meanwhile there is a discovery that the familiarity with the subject will not affect the vocabulary model, but the different vocabulary model may cause different numbers of materials which had been sought.
(4)The factor which influence the number of materials is the familiarity of users with the subject; the one which influence the judgement of related number of materials is the number the user needs ; and the one which affect the accuracy is the purpose of search.
(5)There are 54.64% of subject search vocabularies is able to completely meet the subject headings ; there are also 73% related materials that are needed among search vocabularies which match Chinese subject headings. The main reason lies in the materials found cannot coincide with the need of users.
The proposal is issued on the basis of study results：
(1)Change the term “Subject Heading” into “Subject” as the OPAC subject access point.
(2)Modify the design of index file to materials in OPAC system;(3)Reform the ways and methods of library call number search;
(4)Increase the search functions;
(5)Improve the display style of online subject heading;
(6)Strengthen the depth and width of library collection;
(7)Enhance library instructions of using OPAC subject access points.
