In Taiwan, Da-Tong tribe is minority where no electricity and no road. Considering children’s education, whole tribe moved to Taroko in 1979. However, the tribes don’t want to give up the life in the mountain, such as their lands, houses, and lifestyle. Due to unstable economy, the tribal livelihood is also instability. Tribes’ last safeguard is still the mountains and lands.
From many activities show their determination, including tribes came back live in the mountain, painting the tribal map, building own association for communicate with national park, and building the church by church launching by church, etc. They may don’t know how to negotiate with the government, and don’t know how to gain interrelated resources. They only use their own way to protect their home. They go up to the mountain and then go down day after day. We discovered some ideas and saw the hope from the obscure and small tribe, and the most important thing is they put these opinions into practice. The tribes let us decide help them to record the whole activities process, and we hope it could help them and other aboriginal tribes. Also wishing the video could make some reflection to present society, or give some force to make the dream come true.
