工作通勤時間與住宅大小選擇對於生活滿意的影響十分重要。本研究利用華人家庭動態資料庫首先針對重要變數：通勤時間、每人坪數與每月薪資做工具變數分析以防止內生性的問題產生；為排除線性重合的考量，本研究將薪資分為「含教育程度」及「不含教育程度」兩類工具變數，搭配時點的差異而有不同的使用方式，接著以Ordered Probit模型做橫斷面與追蹤資料分析，並檢定工具變數之設立是否合宜及其對生活滿意廻歸之外生性。實證結果顯示，無論是橫斷面或是追蹤資料皆呈現薪資越高將帶給生活滿意度越高；隨著通勤時間越長，生活滿意程度將下降；而住宅活動空間寬敞與否，則因適應性效果不會對生活滿意有任何影響。

The satisfaction of people’s life lies within their time on commute and the size of their residence. The current study used the data from Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD).The chosen variables are the commuting time, the residential size, and the wage. Instrument variable analysis was applied to prevent them from being endogeneity. For wage analysis, the instrument variables are “including education” and “not including education”, which were used differently at different times points. Then Ordered Probit Model analysis was used for the cross sectional data and panel data, where the hypothesis and exogenous were tested to the instrument variables. Both results from the cross-sectional and panel data showed that the higher wage, the higher satisfaction in life. The longer commute time, the lower satisfaction in life. However the residential size does not have significant impact on life satisfaction due to the result of adaptation.
