In recent years, the rise of Industry 4.0 and the manufacturing industry in various countries have actively promoted automation and smart manufacturing, which in turn led to the vigorous development of the machinery industry. Linear drive component is one of the main sales products of case company in this study. It is very important for the case company to ensure the stability and reliability of its product quality in the competitive market. The objective of this study is to improve product rust problem in the production process of linear drive components. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is applied as the research method. Firstly, thirty-five failure modes are identified in this study and the top three failure modes are selected based on the risk priority number (RPN). The top three failure modes are all occurred in the cleaning process station, they are “cleaning tanks being polluted”, “rust-proof tank being contaminated”, “abnormal air compressor pipeline”. Secondly, four key factors related to the cleaning process station are determined through the quality improvement activities QCC. Finally, effective quality improvement measures are developed to solve the product rust problem. The result shows that these measures can reduce the pollution in the tank.
